Tailoring Leveling Guide 1-525

This guide will walk you through the process of proceeding from Tailoring 1 all the way up to Tailoring  525 (the maximum level.) To do this you’ll need a lot of time (to collect components) or a great deal of expendable gold to purchase all of the supplies (mostly cloth) from the Auction House. Unlike other crafting professions, Tailoring doesn’t require a gathering profession to back it up; cloth will fall off most humanoid (cloth wearing) mobs when you kill them. So they can be farmed fairly readily.

For any given Tailoring recipe you will need vendor-bought goods such as thread and dye, so before embarking on a Tailoring session make certain to stock up on what you need from the vendor. Also, later in past 375 there will be a need for items such as [Rugged Leather], [Arcane Dust], and [Netherweb Spider Silk]. All of these items should be available on the AH; but just in case you might need to get a Skinner and an Enchanter for the first two, but the last one drops from spiders in Outland.

This is one of those tricky crafting careers where you may end up needing more or less of a material as not every craft grants you the point. As a result, I’ll be suggesting the maximum estimate of what you’ll need for each progression. Be prepared for leftovers.

Tailoring 1-50

To begin, you’re going to want to collect all that you need for this section from the Auction House and the vendor.

First, craft [Bolt of Linen Cloth] x50—requiring [Linen Cloth] x100. You’re going to want a lot of these, so keep them around to burn in later crafting sessions.

If that didn’t take you all the way to 50 Tailoring, then craft [Linen Belt] x5—requiring [Bolt of Linen Cloth] x5 and [Coarse Thread] x5. (Or however many it takes to hit 50.)

Tailoring 50 – 125

Once you hit Tailoring 50, visit your trainer and get Journeyman Tailoring. This will allow you to reach Tailoring 150. You will need to be at least level 10 at this time.

Now, craft [Linen Bag] x25—requiring [Bolt of Linen Cloth] x75 and [Coarse Thread] x75.

At 75 Tailoring, craft [Bolt of Woolen Cloth] x30—requiring [Wool Cloth] x90. These are reagents for later crafting, so hold onto them.

If you didn’t hit 105 Tailoring, craft [Woolen Cape] x5—requiring [Bolt of Woolen Cloth] x5 and [Fine Thread] x5—or as many as you need to reach 105.

At 105 Tailoring, craft [Gray Woolen Shirt] x10—requiring [Bolt of Woolen Cloth] x20, [Fine Thread] x10, and [Gray Dye] x10.

At 115 Tailoring, craft [Double-stitched Woolen Shoulders] x10—requiring [Bolt of Woolen Cloth] x30 and [Fine Thread] x20.

Tailoring 125 – 200

Once you hit Tailoring 125, visit your trainer and get Expert Tailoring. This will allow you to reach Tailoring 225. You will need to be at least level 20 at this time.

First, start by crafting [Bolt of Silk Cloth] x20—requiring [Silk Cloth] x80. You know the drill by now, keep these around as you’ll need a lot of them to progress to the next stage.

At 145 Tailoring, craft [Azure Silk Hood] x15—requiring [Bolt of Silk Cloth] x30, [Blue Dye] x30, and [Fine Thread] x15.

At 160 Tailoring, craft [Silk Headband] x10—requiring [Bolt of Silk Cloth] x30 and [Fine Thread] x20.

At 170 Tailoring, craft [Formal White Shirt] x5—requiring [Bolt of Silk Cloth] x15, [Bleach] x10, and [Fine Thread] x5.

At 175 Tailoring, craft [Bolt of Mageweave] x10—requiring [Mageweave Cloth] x40. You’re going to want to keep these as well (although you’ll need a lot more later.)

At 185 Tailoring, craft [Crimson Silk Vest] x15—requiring [Bolt of Silk Cloth] x60, [Red Dye] x30, [Fine Thread] x30.

Tailoring 200 – 275

Once you hit Tailoring 200, visit your trainer and get Artisan Tailoring. This will allow you to reach Tailoring 300. You will need to be at least level 35 at this time.

First, craft [Crimson Silk Vest] x5—requiring [Bolt of Silk Cloth] x20, [Red Dye] x10, and [Fine Thread] x10.

At 205 Tailoring, craft [Crimson Silk Pantaloons] x10—requiring [Bolt of Silk Cloth] x40, [Red Dye] x20, and [Silken Thread] x20.

At 215 Tailoring, craft [Orange Magewave Shirt] x10—requiring [Bolt of Mageweave] x10, [Orange Dye] x10, and [Heavy Silken Thread] x10.

At 225 Tailoring, craft [Black Mageweave Gloves] x10—requiring [Bolt of Mageweave] x20 and [Heavy Silken Thread] x20.

At 235 Tailoring, craft either [Black Mageweave Shoulders] or [Black Mageweave Headband] x15—both require [Bolt of Mageweave] x45 and [Heavy Silken Thread] x30.

At 250 Tailoring, craft [Bolt of Runecloth] x10—requiring [Runecloth] x40. You’ll want to keep these on hand as they’re needed later, but you’ll probably buy a lot more from the AH.

At 260 Tailoring, craft [Runecloth Belt] x15—requiring [Bolt of Runecloth] x45 and [Rune Thread] x15.

Tailoring 275 – 375

Once you hit Tailoring 275, visit your trainer and get Master Tailoring. This will allow you to reach Tailoring 375. You will need to be at least level 50 at this time. In this section you’ll need that [Rugged Leather], [Arcane Dust], and [Netherweb Spider Silk] mentioned above so make sure that you’ve gotten enough on hand. Also be on the lookout for [Knothide Leather] x10 from the AH or a friend with Skinning.

To start, craft [Runecloth Bag] x5—requiring [Bolt of Runecloth] x25, [Rugged Leather] x10, and [Rune Thread] x5.

At 280 Tailoring, craft [Runecloth Gloves] x20—requiring [Bolt of Runecloth] x100 and [Rune Thread] x40.

At 300 Tailoring, craft [Bolt of Netherweave] x25—requiring [Netherweave Cloth] x125.

At 325 Tailoring, craft [Bolt of Imbused Netherweave] x15—requiring [Bolt of Netherweave] x45 and [Arcane Dust] x30.

At 340 Tailoring, craft [Netherweave Boots] x5—requiring [Bolt of Netherweave] x30, [Knothide Leather] x10, and [Rune Thread] x5.

At 345 Tailoring, craft [Netherweave Tunic] x15—requiring [Bolt of Netherweave] x120 and [Rune Thread] x30.

At 360 Tailoring, craft either [Imbued Netherweave Robe] or [Imbued Netherweave Tunic] x15—both require [Bolt of Imbued Netherweave] x90, [Netherweb Spider Silk] x30, and [Rune Thread] x15.

Tailoring 375 – 425

Once you hit Blacksmithing 375, visit your trainer and get Grand Master Tailoring. This will allow you to reach Tailoring 450. You will need to be at least level 65 at this time.

To get up to 425 you’re going to need a great deal of Frostweave, as in about [Frostwave Cloth] x2000 (or [Bolt of Frostweave] x395 if you purchase them straight up.)

Start by crafting [Frostwoven Belt] x5—requiring [Bolt of Frostweave] x15 and [Eternium Thread] x5.

At 380 Tailoring, craft [Frostwoven Boots] x5—requiring [Bolt of Frostweave] x20 and [Eternium Thread] x5.

At 385 Tailoring, craft [Frostwoven Cowl] x10—requiring [Bolt of Frostweave] x50 and [Eternium Thread] x10.

At 395 Tailoring, craft [Duskweave Cowl] x5—requiring [Bolt of Frostweave] x40 and [Eternium Thread] x5.

At 400 Tailoring, craft [Bolt of Imbued Frostweave] x15—requiring [Bolt of Frostweave] x30 and [Infinite Dust] x15. The dust comes from Enchanting disenchants (available on the AH usually) and you may need more or less depending on where the skill up points happen.

At 405 Tailoring, craft [Duskweave Wristwraps] x5—requiring [Bolt of Frostweave] x40 and [Eternium Thread] x5.

At 410 Tailoring, craft [Duskweave Gloves] x5—requiring [Bolt of Frostweave] x45 and [Eternium Thread] x5.

At 415 Tailoring, craft [Frostwave Bag] x10—requiring [Bolt of Frostweave] x120, [Eternium Thread] x20, and [Infinite Dust] x120. These sell really well on the AH because everyone likes bags.

Tailoring 425 – 525

At long last it’s time to visit your trainer and get Illustrious Grand Master Tailoring. This will allow you to reach Tailoring 525—the final level. You will need to be at least level 75 at this time.

To get to the next segment you’re going to need a giant boatload of [Embersilk Cloth] so be prepared either to farm a lot of it or to make massive purchases from the AH as you go along. From here on out things can get pretty expensive.

Start by crafting [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x365—requiring [Embersilk Cloth] x1825. Keep all of this, you’re going to use up pretty much all of it.

At 450 Tailoring, craft [Deathsilk Bracers] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x10.

At 455 Tailoring, craft [Deathsilk Boots] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x15.

At 460 Tailoring, craft [Deathsilk Leggings] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x15.

At 465 Tailoring, craft [Deathsilk Cowl] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x20.

At 470 Tailoring, craft [Spiritmend Belt] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x20.

At 475 Tailoring, craft [Spiritmend Boots] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x20.

At 480 Tailoring, craft [Spiritmend Leggins] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x20.

At 485 Tailoring, craft [Spiritmend Robe] x15—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x90.

At 500 Tailoring, craft [Bloodthirsty Fireweave Bracers] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x30, [Volatile Fire] x15, and [Volatile Air] x15.

Alternatively, you can craft [Bloodthirsty Embersilk Bracers] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x30, [Volatile Fire] x20, and [Volatile Water] x20.

You can get the [Volatile Fire] and [Volatile Water] from mobs in Cataclysm and some gathering professions—but mostly the AH is probably the best place to obtain them.

At 505 Tailoring, craft [Bloodthirsty Embersilk Shoulders] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x30, [Volatile Fire] x15, and [Volatile Water] x15.

At 510 Tailoring, craft [Bloodthirsty Embersilk Belt] x3—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x30, [Volatile Fire] x12, and [Volatile Water] x12.

At 516 Tailoring, craft [Bloodthirsty Embersilk Boots] —requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x10, [Volatile Fire] x4, and [Volatile Water] x4.

At 518 Tailoring, craft [Bloodthirsty Fireweave Boots] —requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x10, [Volatile Fire] x4, and [Volatile Water] x4.

Finally, at 510 Tailoring, craft [Bloodthirsty Embersilk Boots] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x50, [Volatile Fire] x20, and [Volatile Water] x20;

Alternatively you can also craft [Bloodthirsty Fireweave Gloves] x5—requiring [Bolt of Embersilk Cloth] x30, [Volatile Fire] x12, and [Volatile Air] x12.

Congratulations, you should now be at Tailoring 525. At this point you might have made some bags, late level clothing, and the like and those sell extremely well on the AH and could make you back some money that you lost along the way.
